In these compositions\, music has learned to represent flowing creeks\, singing birds (of different species\, each specifically characterized)\, a shepherd and his barking dog\, buzzing flies\, storms\, drunken dancers\, hunting parties from both the hunters’ and prey’s point of view\, even the stillness of frozen landscapes and the warmth of winter fires. We have long looked forward to programming this repertoire and are delighted to present it now with star violinist and guest director Rachel Podger\, in collaboration with Vancouver’s own Pacific Baroque Orchestra. \nGenerously sponsored by The Graham & Gayle Cooke Foundation.

DESCRIPTION:Le projet Luce e Ombra\, « Lumière et Ombre »\, réunit des extraits d’opéra\, une cantate et des pièces instrumentales du fameux compositeur vénitien d’Antonio Vivaldi. \n\n\nDescription\n\nCes oeuvres d’une beauté remarquable sont un peu à son image\, tout en contrastes : clair-obscur\, tristesse-gaité\, désespoir-joie exubérante\, le tout saupoudré des étrangetés caractéristiques qui pimentent agréablement son écriture. \nLa soprano Myriam Leblanc transmet tout son talent et son expressivité au service de ce répertoire qui lui sied exceptionnellement bien. Elle est accompagnée des trois musiciens Grégoire Jeay (flûtes)\, Antoine Malette-Chénier (harpe baroque) et Mélisande Corriveau (violoncelle baroque) de l’Ensemble Mirabilia.
